Christmas gallows-tree by ~If-You-Want is a wonderful capture of an urban setting. ( Featured by ^Kaz-D )

Very rarely do you see such a wonderful bringing together of the macabre and the beautiful! The wonderful juxtaposition of the warming sun and the cold harsh reality of death is simply exquisite. I especially like how the snow has settled just enough to slightly obscure just what is below the surface and the noose it's self is hidden behind the flare of the sun as if nature has reclaimed this device of death. Also the cold solid hardware of the gallows which means an end, a single fate that all humans must face is in contrast with the infinitely unique snow flakes that fall around it as a defiant symbol that life does in fact go on! Truly deserving of the DD and a beautiful image that I'm so glad a saw!
